It deserves a long title because…

This is American buttercream. It’s the sweet, authentic real deal. It sits on top of your favorite cupcake, and elegantly ices the Southern bride’s five tier wedding cake. It’s rich and delicious, and impossible to resist!

The good news is that this delectable frosting is just so easy to make, it’s embarrassing. Here you go, guys… the best frosting you’ll ever have.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup (2 Sticks) Butter, Room Temp**
  • 1 lb (Approx 4 Cups) Sifted Powdered Sugar
  • 1 – 2 Tsp Vanilla

Instructions:

** I prefer Salted Butter for this Recipe, to cut the sweetness a little

A stand mixer is really helpful for this recipe!

You ready for this INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT recipe?? Just kidding, it’s super easy.

Cream your butter and vanilla until they’re well mixed, and add your powdered sugar, a little at a time. Like… one cup at a time at most, otherwise it’s going to go flying like a blizzard and you’ll inhale half of it.

Once you’ve added all your powdered sugar, be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl really well, and then mix on high for 2 – 3 minutes.

The only issue with this amazingly delicious recipe is the color. It’s never going to be bright white. It’s a little yellow because you are using REAL butter, y’all. BUTTTTT…..

The longer you beat it, the whiter it gets! I know, right?? But it’s true, and trust me… using real butter is worth it. You can substitute vegetable shortening for a brighter white frosting but it won’t taste the same and it’s messy and ugh.

So do yourself a favor. Use butter. And you can still color this frosting with gel food coloring!

Go frost some cupcakes!
